PLAN AHEAD FOR DOWNTOWN PARKING DURING EVENTS HELD THIS WEEKEND

 

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK Visitors are encouraged to plan for parking challenges this weekend as the Ford Center and Cox Convention Center simultaneously host large events on Friday and Saturday night.
 
On Friday, December 4th, Ford Center will host the Oklahoma City Thunder as they face off against the Boston Celtics. Doors for the basketball game will open at 5:30 p.m. Tip-off for the game is at 7:00 p.m. At the neighboring Cox Convention Center, LifeWay Events for Women will host Deeper Still. Doors for the event will open at 5:30 p.m. and the event will begin at 7:00 p.m. Combined attendance for the two events at both of the SMG managed facilities is estimated to be more than 25,000 people.
 
On Saturday, December 5th, LiveWay Events for Women will continue their Deeper Still program at the Cox Convention Center from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Later that evening, Ford Center will welcome the “Shine All Night” tour featuring country music superstars Martina McBride and Trace Adkins. Doors to the “Shine All Night” performance open at 6:30 p.m. and the performance begins at 7:30 p.m.
 
All guests who plan to attend any of the weekend events should plan ahead as the demand for nearby parking will increase and downtown parking lots and garages are expected to reach capacity in shorter periods of time. For a list of available parking in downtown Oklahoma City, visit: http://www.downtownokc.com or http://www.parkingokc.com
 
Free rides on the Metro Transit - Central Oklahoma Transportation and Parking Authority (COTPA) trolleys are being offered from November 27, 2009 to January 3, 2010. The free trolley rides are sponsored by the Rotary Club of Oklahoma City # 29. Trolley stops are located in front of both the CoxConvention Center and FordCenter. For more information visit: http://www.gometro.org or call (405) 235-RIDE.
